Lima, December 20, 2017.- The Peruvian Episcopalian Conference launched today the videoclip of the official hymn selected for the visit of the Holy Father to our country, “Con Francisco a caminar”, a song that is being increasingly popular around the country and which will be the representative melody during the Holy Father’s visit to the cities of Puerto Maldonado (Madre de Dios), Trujillo (La Libertad) and Lima.
The hymn, Con Francisco a caminar, by Oscar Quiñones Enciso and performed by his sister Elizabeth, was chosen among more than 120 proposed songs during a contest organized by CEP to select the lyrics and music that will identify the journey of the Holy Father around our country, from 18 to 21 January 2018.
Through making and broadcasting this video at national level, the Peruvian Episcopalian Conference-CEP, wants to show a sequence of real stories personifying our nation and its population, as the message of the lyrics and music of the chosen song say. This song may complement the spiritual preparation that every Peruvian requires for Pope Francis’ arrival.
For the video making, real people participated, such as fishermen from the seaport of Paracas, dock workers, traders from the Fruit Market No. 1, and firefighters -men and women from San Borja Cosmopolita Company n°11.
Included among the characters of the video, we see a female worker with motor disability from a local municipality, as well as boys and girls who sing in the choir of La Buena Nueva parish of San Juan de Lurigancho district and the Sophianum school. Musicians who play in the video are the same ones who participated with Oscar and Elizabeth in the competition.
Accompanying the video, we can hear the piano version of “Con Francisco a caminar,” musical arrangement of producer Amadeo Gaviria.
Monsignor Miguel Cabrejos, Media Cordinator for the Pope’s visit and archbishop of Trujillo; the Apostolic Nuncio in Perú, Nicola Girasoli; Roberto Gómez Baca, mayor of the district of Surco, and representatives of the Catholic Church attended the launch of the video clip.
